"......for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert." Isaiah 35:6

Streams in the Desert is a local Cambodian Medical NGO that started on August 14th, 2014 under the ministry of the International Baptist Church of Phnom Penh. We recently had our permit renewed by the Ministry of Health on September 13th, 2018 to continue our medical clinic outreaches . This was a wonderful answer to our prayers, as we were asking the Lord to enlarge our scope of ministry based on the prayer of Jabez found in 1 Chronicles 4:10. "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.''
Incredibly, God granted our request on September 13th, 2018 and extended our ministry to 12 provinces, approximately half the country of Cambodia. We were also encouraged by another verse found in Isaiah 54:2 which says, "Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes."
We are thrilled with this new opportunity that God has given us, as we press forward with our medical and evangelistic teams to do the "greater works" promised in John 14:12!

Dr. Tom Johnson, M.D.
I accepted Christ as my personal Savior in March of 1977 in a college town known as Indiana in the state of Pennsylvania, the home of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Later, I became interested in missions while attending Calvary Baptist Church in Clymer, Pennsylvania. However, it wasn't until I completely surrendered every area of my life to the Lord (Proverbs 3:5,6), that God led me to pursue the study of medicine, so I could become a medical missionary. After graduating from East Carolina University School of Medicine in 1990, I completed an internship in General Surgery, a one year internship in Family Medicine, followed by an apprenticeship in Family Medicine in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I also received Bible training from Harrisburg School of the Bible and from Falls Institute of Training at my home church, Falls Baptist Church in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. I met Anna, my wife in March, 1995 on a trip to the Holy Lands in Israel. We were married the next year on March 23rd, 1996. We began serving the Lord full-time through Baptist World Mission, beginning in October 1998. We arrived in Cambodia on "Plowing Day", May 26th, the year 2000 and have been serving here ever since.
Mrs. Anna Johnson
Anna was saved in 1980 and surrendered for the Lord’s service on the foreign field. After graduating from Bible college, with a degree in Secondary Education, Anna pursued her dream of foreign service for two years in Mexico. She served with a senior missionary family and worked as a teacher and as a translator for a Christian Medical and Dental clinic which peaked her interest in medical missions. Upon her return, Anna’s training was further developed in project management and medical records. After marrying Dr. Johnson, they answered the call to Cambodia where, among other things, she is responsible for managing clinic outreaches for Streams in the Desert. She is the mother of four beautiful Cambodian children who also help in the family ministries.
